YMCA Programs For School Age Kids

The Scottsbluff Family YMCA offers school age programs for children in Scottsbluff, Gering, Terrytown, and all surrounding communities. Our programs are fully staffed and provide an excellent opportunity for your child to have fun, make friends, learn, and stay active! From the summer time to the school year, your Scottsbluff YMCA has quality programs for your child. See our program information below and contact our front desk for additional information.

Active Kids

The Active Kids provides a fun space with attentive staff members to look after your kids during your workout or while you are in the YMCA. Here at the Scottsbluff Family YMCA we love to see the children being taught an active lifestyle in wellness and education. We have changed the name of Child Watch to Active Kids in order to promote what your child will be doing at the YMCA – Being ACTIVE! Active Kids is for children ages 6 weeks and older. Current monthly calendars and rules may be picked up from an Active Kids attendant or at the YMCA Welcome Center.

During the school year, children enrolled in preschool are welcome to come to Active Kids without a parent in the building before class or after class and children may stay over the lunch hour if enrolled in an all day Preschool Class.

Please let the staff know in advance if you need to drop your child off before 8 am.

One or Two children$70/month
Three or more children$90/month
Hourly Rate$10.00/hour

Fees will need to be paid monthly through our automatic check withdrawal. You will not need any money down but will need to fill out an automatic check withdrawal slip at the Front Desk and provide the required bank account information that you would like the fees withdrawn from.

After School Program

Serving Gering Public Schools

YMCA’s After School Program proudly serves PK through 5th Grade students that attend the Gering Public Schools! Your child will grow, learn, and stay active each day at our after school program. Our after school program takes place at Lincoln Elementary. Transportation is available to ensure all students may attend. Please see the forms below and contact the YMCA front desk for additional information.

The YMCA After School Program will operate in cooperation with the Gering Public Schools schedule. It will be available all days that school is in session. During weather and/or emergency closures, the Program will not take place.

The schedule will operate as follows: Each day will include unstructured outdoor play, a healthy snack, a structured activity, supervised free time and homework time. These activities will be planned according to the age, interests, and number of participants. Extended learning opportunities are offered.

Subsidies are available through DHHS. When applying for subsidy use the After School provider number 45359366.  Apply Now through DHHS iServe

Transportation to the After School site (Lincoln Elementary) will be provided by Gering Public Schools. Please fill out appropriate forms for transportation below.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING ONLINE

  • If your child is a current Y member, if they have been a Y member in the past, or if they have participated in Y programs previously, please use the email address or phone number that we have on file.
    • If you do not know your password, you will need to reset password. This will require you to have the barcode associated with your account. It can be found on the back of your scan card. If you are not a member, you may need to contact the YMCA for this number.
    • Once you have logged in to your account, make sure that you click on your CHILD as the one registering for the program—please do not register yourself.
  • If you have never been in the Y’s system, you can click create new account.
    • Please make sure that you are putting in your CHILD’s name & date of birth. Otherwise, it will register you for the program and not them. There will be a separate place where you can enter in your name.

Summer Day Camp

The Scottsbluff Family YMCA provides summer camps at our Trails West Camp as well as at Lincoln Elementary in Gering. Our program offers outdoor activities, swimming, sports, arts, crafts, games, and summer adventures to give your kids an unforgettable summer experience that combines learning with fun. We believe that our camps not only keep children engaged and active during the summer months but also foster their personal growth and development.
