Child Care & Preschool Services At The Scottsbluff Family YMCA

Our preschool age programs are Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten, Active Learning, Active Kids, and Kinderkamp. These programs are structured to keep your child active and learning all year long. Our certified care instructors provide a safe environment for all kids to participate in age appropriate activities and make new friends. Below you will find additional information regarding all of our YMCA preschool programs. Space is limited, so we encourage you to sign up early!

Active Kids

The Active Kids provides a fun space with attentive staff members to look after your kids during your workout or while you are in the YMCA. Here at the Scottsbluff Family YMCA we love to see the children being taught an active lifestyle in wellness and education. We have changed the name of Child Watch to Active Kids in order to promote what your child will be doing at the YMCA – Being ACTIVE! Active Kids is for children ages 6 weeks and older. Current monthly calendars and rules may be picked up from an Active Kids attendant or at the YMCA Welcome Center.

During the school year, children enrolled in preschool are welcome to come to Active Kids without a parent in the building before class or after class and children may stay over the lunch hour if enrolled in an all day Preschool Class.

Please let the staff know in advance if you need to drop your child off before 8 am.

One or Two children$60/month
Three or more children$80/month
Hourly Rate$10.00/hour

Fees will need to be paid monthly through our automatic check withdrawal. You will not need any money down but will need to fill out an automatic check withdrawal slip at the Front Desk and provide the required bank account information that you would like the fees withdrawn from.

Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten

The Scottsbluff YMCA Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten offers a Christian based, high-quality learning experience for 3-6 year old children. Our YMCA Preschool is a happy place where children are given opportunities to participate in many activities such as: painting, coloring, cutting, art, music, finger plays, Bible stories, sharing, show-n-tell, puppet shows, outdoor play in a large and beautiful area, gym activities, playing in Hangtime Jr.–our amazing indoor Kids Gym–swimming, bounce houses, guest speakers, and frequent field trips for our MWF Classes.

Classes offer your child growth and stimulation in all areas of development: physical, language, social, emotional, and creativity. The weekly themes, manuscript writing, and developmentally appropriate crafts and activities will offer meaningful experiences in your child’s exciting learning endeavors.

Children will be given the opportunity to interact with people outside the family and learn how to relate and socialize within a group. With a wide range of learning experiences and materials, children can choose their own activities, and work and play independently or in small groups at their own pace and ability level.

Learners can join us all day everyday and participate all the programs that happen throughout the day. They will also participate in our Lunch Bunch program.

If your child attends Preschool all day, you will need to be a member of our Active Kids Program. Lunch Bunch kids attend Preschool in the morning, have their lunch in the Active Kids Room and then return to their afternoon class. Active Kids members are welcome to use the Active Kids program before and after preschool.

Program Details

Goals of the YMCA Preschool are to help children develop to their fullest potential in a developmentally appropriate environment focusing on: Christian principles, school readiness, character traits, confidence and feelings of self-worth, getting along with others, manners and health and nutrition.

The YMCA Preschool implements the Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines in its daily activities.

The YMCA Preschool is staffed by licensed, qualified personnel dedicated to the task of providing a caring, fun, safe and positive environment for your child.

In order to be eligible for the Member fee you must have a Family Membership.

Tuition can be paid in full at the beginning of the school year or paid monthly through our automatic check withdrawal. You need no money down, just stop by the front desk and fill out an automatic check withdrawal slip and provide the account information that you want the withdrawal to take place from. There will be a $40 fee assessed for any payment that is returned due to insufficient funds.

The YMCA Preschool follows the Scottsbluff School Calendar closings.

Pre-registration: begins in March. A $90.00 non-refundable registration fee will guarantee a space for your child. When this fee is paid early it will include one session of Summer Kinderkamp.

Please note: that due to its popularity, our Preschool does have a waiting list. You can place your child’s name on the list at any time during the year!

KinderKamp

Kinderkamp is a fun and educational “summer camp” that can provide hours of enjoyment for your Preschool-age children. Your child will have the opportunity to meet new friends and participate in a variety of fun-filled activities such as: arts & crafts, free play, gym, theme weeks, Bible stories, cooking, and outdoor playtime! Each week we will explore a different topic.
