POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Membership Director, the Welcome Desk Associate is the first point of contact for members and guests as they enter our facilities.  All aspects of superior customer service are paramount in this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. The checking-in of all members and guests.
  2. The collection of all necessary fees for both members and guests.
  3. Strict adherence to the policies and procedures of the Membership Department.
  4. Active promotion of programs and of the entire YMCA.
  5. Help with basic clerical duties as needed.
  6. Work in coordination with the Facilities Manager and Building Monitors.
  7. Assist in the administration and coordination of different programs.
  8. Assume other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. Ability to work in excess of a 30-hour week with irregular work hours.
  2. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with varying demographic groups.
  4. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  5. Must be able to lift materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
  6. Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  7. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
  8. Ability to accurately enter data for memberships and program registrations.
HOURS & BENEFIT LEVEL:

Option 1:

  • Full Time: 35+ hours a week
  • Monday-Friday, afternoons/evenings
  • Benefit Level 3

Option 2:

  • Part Time: 12+ Hours a week
  • Weekends & Fill In
  • Benefit Level 4
