POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, morning lifeguards are responsible for day-to-day operations of the indoor pool at the YMCA facility. Main lifeguard responsibilities include but are not limited to:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performing opening and closing duties at the facility scheduled for that day.
- Ensuring the pools and surrounding areas are safe for patrons before opening and while open.
- Actively scanning the pools and enforcing rules as needed to ensure patron safety.
- Responding to emergencies quickly and providing appropriate care.
- Attending staff meetings and trainings.
Must be certified in Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer or the ability to complete the certification if hired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to work in excess of a 30-hour week with irregular work hours.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Ability to communicate effectively with varying demographic groups.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
- Must be able to lift materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to accurately enter data for memberships and program registrations.
HOURS & BENEFIT LEVEL:
- Multiple positions available
- Part Time: 1 to 5 mornings a week depending on availability
- Number of hours negotiable
- Shifts starting at 5:00 AM
- Weekends & fill In if needed
- Benefit Level 4
